Ms. Gerut graduated from North Central College in 2017 with bachelor degrees in both math and secondary education. She is also currently working on her masters degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University Chicago. This is Christy’s fourth school year teaching here at SSPP. She has been one of the junior high math teachers for all four years and a 7th grade homeroom teacher for the past 2 years. Christy has also been a moderator for the student council at SSPP since her first year here.
Christy is from Wheaton. She enjoys visiting her Dad and family in Arizona whenever she gets the chance. Christy got a new puppy shortly before the 2020 school year started. The students love to hear updates and see pictures of puppy Lola as she has grown up.
“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.’” Mark 10:27
Christy strongly believes that a classroom should be a place where students come to grow. She is a firm believer in the growth mindset, that every student can be successful and learn if they put in the effort. Christy believes math is a subject best learned by doing and students must take an active role in learning. Christy likes to have a balance of both herself and the students working at the board throughout her class.
