Marissa’s Illinois journey began right here in Naperville, IL when she moved from Minnesota to attend North Central College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. While on campus, she also met her husband, Eric, who now have been married for over nine years and feel blessed to be raising two children, Braelyn (7) and Maverick (4). She went on to obtain her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University in 2016. Marissa was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home parent for her two children before they both began their early childhood education attending private schools where she loved volunteering and watching her kids grow in their connection with God. For over 10 years, her professional experience has allowed her to work with a vast array of culturally and ethnically diverse populations in multiple clinical settings including acute care hospitality (RML Specialty Hospital), residential treatment (Timberline Knolls), and individual private practice (OakHeart Center for Counseling). Throughout her work, Marissa was able to witness firsthand the importance of deepening the association of your faith and bridging the gap for access to mental health support. Marissa feels extremely grateful and excited to have the opportunity to empower students and the entire Saints Peter and Paul community in guidance towards any emotional, social, academic and behavioral needs. She will strive to provide a caring and faith filled environment where students feel confident in the best versions of themselves and challenged throughout their academic career by overcoming barriers that are imperative to learning.
