Katie is thrilled to be able to contribute to the Catholic school community, and is looking forward to helping in the 2nd grade classroom at Sts. Peter and Paul school.
It's been a while since Katie was in the working world. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1989 with a communications and journalism degree. Following graduation, she immediately began working for the City of Chicago promoting it as a business and tourist destination.
She then moved to Denver with her husband where she worked as an account manager on various marketing and public relations projects. In the year 2000 after moving to San Francisco, Katie decided to walk away from her 11-year career and stay home with their two young sons.
Eventually, the Coffey family made their way back to the Chicagoland area and welcomed two more boys into the Coffey family. For the next 20 years, Katie and her husband would raise their four very active sons, and with the help of their Catholic school and parish of St. Petronille in Glen Ellyn, teach their boys the Catholic faith.
Katie has been married to Steve for 24 years and they both believe there is nothing more important than learning, teaching, and living their Catholic faith and serving those who are in need.
In addition to managing a busy household, Katie volunteered at St. Petronille school for 16 years as a classroom leader and parent helper on a variety of committees. In addition, she served the parish community by teaching Sunday school to kindergarteners which she loved! When not in the classroom, Katie has been active for 20 years on the Choose Life ministry and has recently joined the Worship Commission while starting up a new Rosary Ministry for all St. Petronille parishioners.
As her young sons grow into young men, Katie looks forward to combining her love of the Catholic faith with her love of children and step back into the classroom at Sts. Peter and Paul. She is very excited to meet the staff, the children and the families at Sts. Peter and Paul.
