Katie moved to Naperville over 20 years ago from her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband love living in this amazing city and have two children, Ally (6th grade) and Colin (2nd grade). Her family was new to SSPP last school year and they feel it is one of the best decisions they have made to join such an amazing school community!
Katie graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a part of the first graduating class at Miami to obtain an Early Childhood degree! She majored in Early Childhood with a minor in Special Education.
She taught in the Plainfield School District for 12 years at the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center. Katie was an Early Childhood teacher who taught in an inclusive instructional classroom setting alongside a team of assistants and therapists. She grew and learned so much from her years teaching here and during the second part of her career her classroom was adapted to meet the needs of the hearing-impaired population of students in the district. She taught the inclusive hearing-impaired classroom for the remainder of her years at Bonnie McBeth.
Katie left teaching to stay home and raise her children. She had the pleasure of working shortly at Wheatland Salem Christian Academy as a support specialist for a few years until 2020. This new opportunity to work at her children’s school and be a part of a new preschool opening is such a blessing to her!
Katie believes that children learn through play and experience. Each child develops at his or her own pace and when they are ready. Katie cannot wait to welcome many new learners into SSPP and help them grow!
