Longtime parishioners and Naperville residents, Katie Ondyak and her husband, Brian, transferred their children to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in the fall of 2020. They’ve enjoyed the welcoming school community, the outstanding academics, and are happy to know their family’s faith and values are reinforced during the school day.
Katie has enjoyed volunteering in various roles at SSPP, and when the chance to teach art for the school presented itself in the spring of 2022, she jumped at the opportunity! Becoming the SSPP art teacher brought Katie back to her creative roots after a long motherhood hiatus. Katie earned her BA in Studio Art from North Central College and minored in art history. During her time at NCC, she was also a four-year colligate athlete, participating in sprints and pole vault on the women’s track and field team. After graduation Katie worked in the design and spatial planning industry and chose to leave her full-time job when she became a mother.
In her classroom at SSPP, Katie focuses on teaching the students art concepts with age-appropriate projects. Katie understands children naturally vary in their artistic abilities and approaches them in a way that helps to improve skills at each of their own individual levels. Katie incorporates faith-based projects throughout the school year and hopes to instill an appreciation for art by including a little bit of art history when projects are inspired by the work of famous artists.
