Maria Leitner grew up in the Northern suburbs and attended Catholic school from elementary school through high school. Growing up the youngest of ten children, Maria learned at a young age that family and faith were the cornerstones of life. She continued to keep these important truths as she has been raising her own four children. Her oldest daughter, Isabella (‘22), recently graduated from Saints Peter and Paul, and the three others, Dominic (‘25), Santino (‘27), and Giada (‘28) are current students. For Maria, Catholic school is the family outside the home, where children and parents grow together in a common love and belief in Christ together.
Maria graduated Phi Alpha Theta from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Currently she is enrolled at National Louis University to obtain her Masters in Middle Grade Education with a discipline in Social Science. She has always been active in Saints Peter and Paul, not just as a parent, but as a volleyball coach for four years, a member of the Athletic Association, and substitute teacher. This past school year, Maria was an aid in Saints Peter and Paul’s Pre-K classrooms. She comes from a long line of educators, including her mother who was her Junior High teacher, and has multiple siblings who are teachers as well.
She has been a resident of Naperville and parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church for fourteen years. Maria enjoys traveling, reading, catching up on her favorite TV shows, and spending time with her children and family.
