Ms. Alonso has had the pleasure to be the Spanish teacher of Saint Peter and Paul Catholic School for the past two years. She comes from the north of Spain; from a small but beautiful city called San Sebastian. When she was 20, she moved to England, where she lived and studied for several years and obtained a bachelor degree in Nutrition and Science. She then moved to the south of Spain where she worked in a private school as a Science teacher. Ms. Alonso came back to England in 2009, where she dedicating time to her family until they all moved to Naperville in 2017. She has taught “US Citizenship” at Waubonsee Community College in Aurora. She then joined Ann Reid Early Childhood Center, as teacher assistant in the Dual Program and occasionally substitute taught for District 203.
Mrs. Alonso loves to engage children making Spanish fun, while they also learn how to speak to one another and learn about the country of Spain. Her students know she finds great joy in teaching as she see confidence grow day by day, in daily work and conversation. She works to create a warm and comfortable environment and enjoys meeting her students families. SSPP is such a happy place that I feel overly grateful to call my work family. Working with preschool students as we open the new preschool program, is something that will bring a smile to my face each day. Children can learn how to speak Spanish from the youngest of ages. I look forward to this new adventure as I work on the preschool team each afternoon!
My favorite bible quote is “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
I believe that everybody can learn a second language with the proper combination of appropriate instructions, personal motivation, low stress, and the opportunity to talk in the classroom. My goal is to make Spanish fun and enjoyable, so students can engage and captivate their interests in language, for the beginning of the course.
