Mrs. Neumann grew up in Calumet City as the daughter of a deacon. She was active in her parish of St. Victor's and was a leader in their youth group. She attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton High School and after graduating began her pursuit of an education degree. Along the way she met her husband of 38 years, began a family and stopped short of receiving her degree. Finally, in 1997 Mrs. Neumann graduated from Northern Illinois University realizing her lifelong dream to become a teacher. She has been a teacher in the Diocese of Joliet for 23 years. She has had the privilege of teaching grades 1-4 at various Diocesan schools as well as being the Technology Coordinator/Librarian. Mrs. Neumann is a proud grandmother of 6!
Mrs. Neumann came to Saints Peter and Paul six years ago as a 2nd grade teacher. She feels honored to have had the opportunity to prepare 4 classes for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Currently she is very excited to be spending time with her former second graders as she moved up to fourth grade. Five years ago Fr. Milota invited her to attend the St. John Bosco Conference in Steubenville, Ohio. Since attending that first year, Mrs. Neumann decided to pursue a certification as a catechist through Franciscan University. She hopes to be finished in the Summer of 2021.
Mrs. Neumann feels so blessed to be a part of the Saints Peter and Paul family. Everyone is so generous, welcoming and supportive. It truly feels like being a part of a family.
Mrs. Neumann's favorite saint is Saint Paul. One of her favorite passages; "There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit, there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit." A little further on Saint Paul goes on to say; "As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also is Christ....we were all given to drink of one Spirit...Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts." 1Corinthians 12:4-7; 12-13 & 31.
Mrs. Neumann believes just as Saint Paul does, that we all have different gifts and we all have something to contribute. Therefore, she strives to help each student discover what they are good at and gives them the space to make a difference in her classroom. Mrs. Neumann believes that each student is a gift from God to be cared for, respected and nurtured to their full potential.
